Lee Vinson, of Urinetown and Little Shop of Horrors Fame, will be teaching a dance class focusing on Broadway and Jazz dance moves. There will also be the added focus of burning some fat.

There will be a class on sound reinforcement on Saturday, November 3, from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. The purpose is to orient interested volunteers in setting up and running APAC’s sound system, but other topics in sound reinforcement will be covered, as time permits. This class is free. No experience is required and all are welcome. It would be helpful if interested parties e-mail their intention to attend to randyressler@aol.com.

Please note that the class starts the 13th not the 6th

ALL NEW! This is a new offering from APAC taught by Nicole Miller. Find your own voice as you explore the elements of comedy. From writing your own material, to experimenting with performance style, this class will not only prepare you to deliver a three-minute comedy act, but will help to perfect your delivery and timing in all aspects of performing and public speaking. The class will conclude with a Comedy Clubesque Reception.

APAC OFFERS PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES

Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer seven classes in the new year, continuing its ongoing program of performing arts education. All instruction will take place at the APAC Loft in Kainaliu, on the second floor of the building containing Creative Costumes, directly across the street from Paradise Found.

Tuesdays will feature two classes. First, Jerry Tracy will continue his "Tuesday Trouper" theatre skills class for 8-12 year olds from 3:15 to 5:15, January 16 through March 6. Tuition is $100. From 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., Amma Maxwell will offer Mixed Dance Level 2, for those with previous dance experience. This class begins January 9 and will be ongoing, with tuition set at $75 for 8 classes.

Adult Acting Class

The adult acting class taught by Sierra Faith will possibly be opening a second section on Thursdays. For more information call Sam at 322-9924. We are still having the Saturday section starting October 7th. Please call ahead to let us know of your interest.

Honk! Jr. Opens this FRIDAY

Hans Christian Andersen’s childhood tale “The Ugly Duckling” has been adapted to the stage and includes musical numbers. The Aloha Performing Arts Company is presenting Honk! Jr. starting Oct 6th and going through Oct 22nd. Our show features all children in this zany musical and is a prefect family event. Kainaliu, September 20, 2004

Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer two ten-week classes this fall in its ongoing after school theatre education program. Veteran performer and instructor Vickie Higginson, last seen as "Lily" in ANNIE, will teach "Childsplay Theatre Workshop" for 5-7 year olds, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. The class will explore rhythm, rhyme, and role playing , using favorite poems, fables, and fairy tales. Work will focus on storytelling through characterization, movement, voice, and costuming, and will culminate in a simple showcase. Tuition is $85 per student. Please call for the starting date of this class.

APAC artistic director Jerry Tracy will continue his Tuesday Trouper class, for ages 8 and up, on Tuesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., September 14 through November 16. Work will involve improvisation, poetry interpretation, scene work, and creation of historical monologues, and will also culminate in a simple showcase. Tuition is $120 per student.
