The Aloha Performing Arts Company will be holding auditions for "Seussical Junior " May 3rd and 4th at 1:00pm at the Loft in Kainaliu. Ages 4 -18 are encouraged to audition. Adults will not be cast as this is a junior show. Sue Boyum is director, and Lee Vinson is choreographer.

The cast features many of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters including:

THE CAT IN THE HAT - the essence of mischief, fun, and imagination. JOJO - a "Thinker", a smart child with a wild imagination. HORTON THE ELEPHANT - a gentle giant. GERTRUDE McFUZZ - very self-conscious and aware that her one-feather tail isn't perfect. MAYZIE LA BIRD – a self-centered, selfish, and vain bird. SOUR KANGAROO isn't really sour at all, she's just got a lot of attitude, is loud, brassy and a lot of fun. THE WICKERSHAM BROTHERS are not bad guys, but they tease, play pranks, and get a kick out of making mischief. MR. and MR. MAYOR are WHOS who are parents trying hard to raise a difficult child in a difficult world. Also available are roles as Citizens of Whoville, Bird Girls, Circus Performers and Underwater Creatures and even a cameo appearance by the Grinch!

Those auditioning will be taught a song and a dance. Singers will be heard in small groups as well as individually and will dance in small groups. In addition, select speaking lines from the script will be available for study during the audition and each actor will be asked to share one with the group. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and plan to arrive promptly to be photographed and fill out forms, including parental consent forms. The APAC loft, site of the auditions, is located in Kainaliu, on the second floor of the building directly across the street from Lavender Moon Gallery. Access is via the lane just south of the building. The entrance is above and behind Kanak's furniture store. Parking is limited, so those attending are encouraged to park on the street or in the public lot just north of the building.

A limited number of scripts are available for onsite perusal or checkout for a $10 deposit, Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. "Seussical Junior" will be performed two weekends at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu, June 20-29. Rehearsals will begin May 5, and will be held Mon, Tues, Thur and Fri evenings and Saturday afternoons. A tentative rehearsal schedule will be posted at auditions and those auditioning will be asked to list any rehearsal conflicts so please bring your calendars. Not all cast members will be required at all rehearsals; frequency of rehearsals and specific time commitment varies with each role. For more information, call the APAC office at 322-9924.
