APAC OFFERS TWO YOUTH SUMMER WORKSHOPS
Aloha Performing Arts Company is offering two workshops for young people this summer. Innovations Public Charter School instructor Sue Boyum will teach a workshop for kids ages 8-12, which will be conducted 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11-16. This workshop will focus on creativity and imagination, and will culminate with a performance of the play "Big Friendly Giant" by Roald Dahl, on June 16 at the Aloha Theatre. Tuition is $175 per student. Early dropoff, at 8 a.m., is available for an extra $30.
Aloha Teen Theatre will offer its annual Summer Theatre workshop, for young people ages 12-21, July 9-20, Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year's workshop production is "Happily Ever Once Upon," a "fractured fairy tale" style comedy by Virginia Kidd. Over a dozen roles are available and will be cast by director Malia Lugo. She will be assisted by Sandra Burck, and Katelyn Howard will be the producer. Other crew positions are still available. Tuition for this workshop is $50. Evening performances will be at the Aloha Theatre July 20, 21, and 22. Parent permission forms are required, and are available online at www.apachawaii.org.
