APAC CALLS FOR ORIGINAL SCRIPTS

Kona's Aloha Performing Arts Company has announced its request for scripts for the 14th annual Original Play Festival, which will be presented August 15 through 18 at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu, Hawaii. Scripts of any length and on any subject will be accepted through postmark date May 21, 2007.

Entries should be typewritten, bound, with sequentially numbered pages, including a list of characters and a brief description of the play. Three hard copies of each script, including the character list and description with each, are required to expedite the selection committee's evaluation process. Scripts should not contain the playwright's name. One separate cover sheet with the play's title and the playwright's name, address, phone numbers and e-mail address must be included, so that anonymity is possible in evaluation and selection. Musical entries must be accompanied by three performance quality cassette tapes or CDs with voice tracks. The plays chosen will be mounted as staged readings, with minimal rehearsal and simple technical presentation. Musicals will be presented concert style.

The committee's official selections will be made and notifications sent by late June; auditions for actor/readers will be held in July; rehearsals will be conducted from mid July to mid August, and the festival will be presented August 15-18. All entry materials should be postmarked by May 21 and sent to: APAC OPF XIV, P.O. Box 794, Kealakekua, HI 96750. For more information, call the APAC office at 322-9924.
