APAC OFFERING CHILDREN'S SUMMER WORKSHOP

Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer a seven-day intensive production workshop for children from ages 8-12 on June 21,22,23,28,29,30, and July 1, with a free public performance at the end of the final day at the Aloha Theatre. The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, with possible early drop off at an additional charge if requests warrant. Morning instruction will take place at APAC's loft in Kainaliu, and afternoon sessions will be at the Aloha Theatre.

APAC artistic director Jerry Tracy will direct his original script "Your Show of Colors," which is a zany theatrical revue exploring the concept of color through rap, choral speaking, acting, singing, and dancing. Each participant is guaranteed a role, and will also help with the technical preparations for the show, including creating props, costumes, and sets. Each child must bring a lunch daily, and APAC will provide an afternoon snack as well as all materials needed for the workshop. Sharon Cannon is music director, and Carena Montany is choreographer. The staff will be assisted by members of Aloha Teen Theatre and YAPAC, APAC's youth program.

The tuition for for the regular 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. sessions is $130 per student, and early bird drop-off at 8:00 a.m. will be offered for $160 if there is sufficient demand. Enrollment is limited to 20 particpants. A waiting list will be taken also, in case of no shows.

Preregistration by phone is recommended. For more information or to sign up a child for the workshop, call Sam at the APAC office at 322-9924.
