“Unreasonable Doubt”

“Unreasonable Doubt”, a new play by Ka’u playwright Dick Hershberger, will be read live at the historic Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu on Saturday, April 22, 2006, by the cast for whom it was written: Shawn Nakoa, Esq. and Arlene Araki.

“Unreasonable Doubt” is some of the conversations between Georgianne Ke’eamoku, a domestically battered Hawaiian woman, and her court appointed Public Defender, Margaret Higa. The conversations arise as a result of Georgianne’s arrest by police officers that find her standing over the inert body of her estranged husband with a recently discharged pistol in her hand.

has been a long time performer on the stage at The Historic Aloha Theatre and has had many of the plays that he has written performed during The Aloha Performing Arts Company’s Original Play Festival. This drama about the ongoing epidemic of domestic violence in our community is a departure from the comedies that he has become known for writing.

The staged reading of “Unreasonable Doubt” is part of the ongoing series of Readers’ Theatre events sponsored by The Aloha Performing Arts Company.
