Waimea Community Theatre presents the Big Island Premiere of Lanford Wilson’s "Book of Days"

Join members of the cast of "Anything Goes" at a special performance in Kailua-Kona on February 24th at 7:30 pm at the L.E.A.D. Center (former “Hualalai Theatre”).

Book of Days is set in fictional Dublin, Missouri (hollering distance from the playwright’s actual hometown), an “Educated community” home to “a cheese plant”, “five churches” and a “community theater”; a place where tornadoes rage and George Bernard Shaw is dubbed controversial. Beneath its clean, wholesome exterior, Dublin experiences a lesson in small-town power struggles and darkness when Walt Bates, the owner of the cheese plant and unofficial feudal lord of the town, dies suddenly in a hunting accident during a tornado. When the circumstances surrounding Walt’s death don’t add up, his bookkeeper, Ruth Hoch (pronounced like ‘coke’), is driven to reveal the truth about his death, Dublin’s values and the blissful danger of willed ignorance. Fraught with humor, charm, and tough medicine, Book of Days gives a day-by-day account of how a little place can lose its innocence in an instant through the eyes of its most powerful and servile residents.

Waimea Community Theatre is reaching out to theatre artists of all disciplines with an Industry Member Discount at select performances of this production. At the Saturday and Wednesday performances, WCT is offering this 25% Industry Member Discount for individual tickets sold to audience members who show a program, poster or newspaper clipping listing them as cast or crew for any Big Island production. The Industry Member Discount cannot be coupled with any other discount, i.e. student or senior rates.
