APAC HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR ''JOSEPH''
Auditions for Andrew Lloyd Webber's pop rock musical JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, the next production of Aloha Performing Arts Company, will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 28 and 29, at the APAC Loft in Kainaliu, on the second floor of the building directly across the street from Paradise Found, above and behind Loke's Island Memories. Prospective cast members need only attend on one of the nights, and should park on the street or in the public lot just north of the building. Children may audition at 6:30 p.m. and teens and adults at 7:30 p.m.
"Joseph" requires a large children's chorus, 15 women, and 17 men, including an "Elvis" type character. Auditionees will be seen in small groups, and will be asked to learn a short movement routine, and to sing a small portion of a song. Children, who must have parental consent to audition, may sing either "Silent Night" or "Amazing Grace." Teens and adults may sing "Silent Night," "Amazing Grace," "Blue Christmas," or "Heartbreak Hotel."
JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, based on the biblical story of Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors, was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, who also created JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and EVITA. It will be presented at the Aloha Theatre February 3-26, 2006. Rehearsals will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday afternoons beginning December 5, with a holiday break from December 24 through January 1. The specific time committment will vary, depending on roles assigned.
Artistic personnel auditioning prospective performers will include: Joel Gimpel, music director; Dale Ross, choral director; Sue Boyum, children's choral director; Amma, choreographer, Jerry Tracy, stage director, and Tiana Alcoran, assistant director. No experience is required and newcomers are welcome. For more information, call the APAC office at 322-9924.
