APAC OFFERS FALL BREAK THEATRE WORKSHOP

Oct 5-10, 2009
Produced by APAC

Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer "Family Soup," a fall break theatre production workshop for 8-12 year olds, which will be led by APAC artistic director Jerry Tracy, October 5-10, 2009, with a free public performance on Saturday October 10. Each student who participates is guaranteed a speaking role in the show, and will also assist with technical preparations such as props, costumes, and set pieces. Tracy will be assisted my members of Aloha Teen Theatre.

"Family Soup" is a children's variety show, with songs, dances, poems, jokes, and stories from around the world, all family-themed, compiled by Tracy. Special features include a story about the Hawaiian god Maui and a localized version of Little Red Riding Hood, entitled "Little Red Lava Lava." The workshop will meet each day, 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Tuition, which includes all materials required, is $175 per student, and limited scholarships are available. A $50 deposit is required to hold a spot. Early dropoff and a technical theatre class at 8:00 a.m. may be offered if there is sufficient demand, for an additional fee of $30. Students will need to bring a lunch, and a mid-afternoon snack will be provided. The workshop offers over thirty hours of instruction in the various aspects of play production, led by a professional. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants, so registration by 5:00 p.m. October 1st is recommended, to avoid a late sigunp fee of $10.00. Online registration is available on APAC's website, www.apachawaii.org. For more information, call 322-9924.
