"OTHELLO" CAST ANNOUNCED

Kona bartender and fitness instructor David A. Payne has the title role in Aloha Performing Arts Company's next production, Shakespeare's OTHELLO. Waimea's Sarah Campbell, last seen as Marian the librarian in THE MUSIC MAN, takes the leading female role of Desdemona, and J.R. Storment, seen in that production as Professor Harold Hill, will play Cassio. APAC veteran David A. Watkins is the arch villain Iago, and Iago's wife Emilia is played by Catherine Hansen, a familiar face to Kona audiences. Molly McGivern, who portrayed Maria is the recent THE SOUND OF MUSIC, will play Bianca, and will also provide exotic dance direction. John Powell is Brabantio, Vince Mott is the Duke of Venice, Lehr Duquesne is Roderigo, Alex Moore is Lodovico, Joe Zapatoaliva is Montano, Chuck Makanui is Gratiano, and Sarah Weiner is the Clown. Senators, officers, gentlemen, and attendants will be played by Robyn Reck Duquesne, Terrie Lazarus, Ian Kinsey, Robin O'Hara, Ruby Rose Savarese, and Sandra Burck.

Jerry Tracy is directing, assisted by Tiana Alcoran. Producers are Carmen Kinsey and Connie Friedrichs. Patricia 'Iolana, who directed last season's MACBETH, is serving as dramaturge. Mary Jane Miller of the University of the Nations is designing the set; Jared Terpak, of North Kohala, is lighting designer, David A. Watkins is sound designer and Betsy Iona-Naihe is costume design. Hair and makeup design will be by Aimee Marquardt and Cheri Grinsteinner. In addition to playing the lead role, David A. Payne will also serve as combat choreographer. Amazing Grace Jaeger will provide live drumming to complement the sound design.

OTHELLO will play June 10 through 26 at the Aloha Theatre, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission, and $10 for senior citizens and students.
