My Son Pinocchio (formerly Geppetto & Son)

A musical retelling of the famous Pinocchio story, from the point of view of Geppetto, his creator. When the Blue Fairy grants Geppetto's fondest wish and brings Pinocchio to life, things seem perfect. But soon Geppetto is filled with doubts about being a father. It's only after Pinocchio is taken away to Pleasure Island that Geppetto realizes how important his son is.
The iconic story of Pinocchio as told by his father, Geppetto, comes to life in the new Disney’s “My Son Pinocchio” at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Aloha Performing Arts Company will hold open auditions for volunteer performers of various ages on Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Aloha Theatre. Disney’s “My Son Pinocchio," by Stephen Schwartz and David Stern, features about 30 children, teen and adult roles. Auditions will include a short reading from the script, a learning of a dance routine, and singing “When You Wish Upon A Star” from the show. The directors request that auditonees attend only one of the two evenings of tryouts. No experience is required, and newcomers are encouraged to audition. Performance dates for this exciting and fun musical are June 18 though July 3, 2010.
Roles available are:
* Blue Fairy, any age female, a mischievous, wish granting fairy.
* Geppetto, adult male, the aging father of Pinocchio.
* Pinocchio, male child, the adventurous son of Geppetto.
* Stromboli, adult male, a puppeteer who only wants fame.
* Buonragazzo, adult male, a professor who makes perfect children.
* Ringleader, the leader of “Pleasure Island.”
Ensemble roles available are Mrs. Giovanni, Bernardo, Junior, Maria, Talia, Children, Parents, Automatons, Marionettes, Delinquents, Animals, and Roustabouts.
Rehearsals will be conducted Sundays 4-7 p.m. and Monday through Thursday evenings, 6:00 to 9:00 pm. beginning May 16. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, from June 18 through July 3. The tentative rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions. Participants must commit to the entire rehearsal and performance schedule.
With book by David Stern and music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning master composer Stephen Schwartz, this family-friendly musical is appropriate for all audiences. The artistic casting staff includes Delaney Ross, music director and director, Tiffany Kutsunai, assistant director, and BriAnna Johnson, choreographer. Adult mentors are Dale Ross and Jerry Tracy.
