Auditions for actor/readers for APAC’s 16th annual Original Play Festival will be held Monday and Tuesday, July 6 and 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Rehearsals will begin immediately following auditions and the festival will be held August 13 through 16. Most plays will have five rehearsals.
Thursday August 13: Double bill: “Flock,” a teenage drama written and directed by Elise Levin, with a cast of three male and three female teens, and “Island Space,” a locally flavored psychological drama by Diane Aoki and directed by Michael Cservenak, featuring a cast of two men and two women.
Friday, August 14: Double bill: “Folie a Deux” and “The Woman Who Married the Wrong Man,” two short plays about madness written by Mark D. Tjarks, featuring one man and two women and one man and three women, respectively. Directors are Kelly Ann Miles and Ken Ross
Saturday, August 15: “The Lost Jewel” an Hawaiian historical drama by Zena Zeller, directed by Cathy Riehle, with a cast of seven women and nine men.
Sunday, August 16th: Potluck wrapup celebration at 2:30pm
Plays will be presented as staged readings, with minimal rehearsal and actors carrying scripts. Memorization is not required and newcomers are welcome. Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts. Scripts are available for onsite perusal at the APAC office Monday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. or by special arrangement.
