V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls by promoting creative events to increase awareness, raise money and
revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.

Last year over 4000 V-Day benefits took place around the world raising funds and awareness towards ending violence against women. Since 1998, V-Day and these highly successful events have raised over $60 million for local beneficiaries working to end violence against women and girls. Hot on the heels of their success, Kailua-Kona has joined this global movement as part of the V-Day 2009 Campaign.

For the first year ever, The Tombomb Collective will present a benefit production in Kailua-Kona of The Vagina Monologues at The Aloha
Theatre on April 24 and 25, 2009 at 7:30 pm on behalf of the V-Day 2009 Campaign. This ground-breaking show, hosted by Tombomb Resident Artist BFA Actor Tiffany Rose Brown, will be guest directed by award-winning NYU MFA Playwright Christopher Oscar Pena and feature activists and actresses from our community to benefit West Hawaii Child and Family Services programs, to help heal and protect the women
and children of our island who are survivors of abuse.
