APAC OFFERS "A CHILD'S HISTORY OF HAWAII" AS WORKSHOP
APAC's Winter Production Workshop for 8-12 year olds will be held December 27 and 28, and January 2,3,4, and 5, with a free public performance at the Aloha Theatre at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday January 5. Jerry Tracy will be the primary instructor, Jill Collier will be costume and prop designer, and teen assistants will be Sandra Burck and Jaquelynn Collier. This year's show will be "Tales of Hans Christian Andersen." The script features The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Swineherd, The Ugly Duckling, and The Little Mermaid. The workshop will meet each day, 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. Morning sessions are at the loft, and afternoons at the Aloha Theatre. Tuition is $175 per student, and scholarships are available. Early dropoff may be offered for an additional fee, if there is sufficient demand. The workshop offers over thirty hours of instruction in the various aspects of production. Each student is guaranteed a role, and will also assist with technical preparations, such as costumes, props, and sets. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants. Lee Vinson, of Urinetown and Little Shop of Horrors Fame, will be teaching a dance class focusing on Broadway and Jazz dance moves. There will also be the added focus of burning some fat.

There will be a class on sound reinforcement on Saturday, November 3, from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. The purpose is to orient interested volunteers in setting up and running APAC’s sound system, but other topics in sound reinforcement will be covered, as time permits. This class is free. No experience is required and all are welcome. It would be helpful if interested parties e-mail their intention to attend to randyressler@aol.com.

ALL NEW! This is a new offering from APAC taught by Nicole Miller. Find your own voice as you explore the elements of comedy. From writing your own material, to experimenting with performance style, this class will not only prepare you to deliver a three-minute comedy act, but will help to perfect your delivery and timing in all aspects of performing and public speaking. The class will conclude with a Comedy Clubesque Reception.

Aloha Teen Theatre will offer its annual Summer Theatre workshop, for young people ages 12-21, July 9-20, Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year's workshop production is "Happily Ever Once Upon," a "fractured fairy tale" style comedy by Virginia Kidd. Over a dozen roles are available and will be cast by director Malia Lugo. She will be assisted by Sandra Burck, and Katelyn Howard will be the producer. Other crew positions are still available.
Tuition for this workshop is $50. Evening performances will be at the Aloha Theatre July 20, 21, and 22. Parent permission forms are required, and are available online at www.apachawaii.org. For more information or to register for either workshop, call the APAC office at 322-9924.

APAC OFFERS TWO YOUTH SUMMER WORKSHOPS
Aloha Performing Arts Company is offering two workshops for young people this summer. Innovations Public Charter School instructor Sue Boyum will teach a workshop for kids ages 8-12, which will be conducted 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11-16. This workshop will focus on creativity and imagination, and will culminate with a performance of the play "Big Friendly Giant" by Roald Dahl, on June 16 at the Aloha Theatre. Tuition is $175 per student. Early dropoff, at 8 a.m., is available for an extra $30.

APAC OFFERS PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES
Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer seven classes in the new year, continuing its ongoing program of performing arts education. All instruction will take place at the APAC Loft in Kainaliu, on the second floor of the building containing Creative Costumes, directly across the street from Paradise Found.
Tuesdays will feature two classes. First, Jerry Tracy will continue his "Tuesday Trouper" theatre skills class for 8-12 year olds from 3:15 to 5:15, January 16 through March 6. Tuition is $100. From 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., Amma Maxwell will offer Mixed Dance Level 2, for those with previous dance experience. This class begins January 9 and will be ongoing, with tuition set at $75 for 8 classes.

APAC OFFERS "POEMPLAY" WORKSHOP
Aloha Performing Arts Company is offering a winter vacation theatre production workshop for children ages 8-12, entitled "PoemPlay." Dates are December 27, 28, and 29, 2006, and January 3, 4, 5, and 6, 2007. Weekday hours are 10:00 a.m. til 4:00 p.m., with tuition at $175. Early weekday dropoff at 8:00 a.m. is available for $30 more per student. Saturday, January 6 will be performance day. The work the students have done during the workshop will be showcased in a free public presentation at the Aloha Theatre at noon. Saturday's hours for all students are 10:00 a.m. til 2:00 p.m., allowing time for dress rehearsal, striking the show and celebrating completion.
